Backflow Prevention

City of El Dorado Ordinance #1586, passed in July 1999, requires any water customer of El Dorado Water Utilities, who has a lawn irrigation system, to have a backflow prevention device installed in their system.

This device is necessary to prevent non-potable water from flowing into the potable water system.

The ordinance also requires that these devices are tested annually by a certified back-flow assembly tester to verify that they are working properly. This testing will be at the customer’s expense.

By December 31 of each calendar year, a copy of the test results should be sent to:

John Pepper
C/O El Dorado Water Utilities
P.0.  Box 1587
El Dorado, AR 71731

Failure to comply with this ordinance can result in water service being discontinued until compliance has been verified.
